OPEN

Episode 13

Open Ears is a podcast about curiousity and creativity. And intellectual property.

Intellectual property begins with curiosity and eagerness to create solutions. Creativity touches all aspects of intellectual property.

In Open Ears, we wish to explore how different people work with their creativity and express it in a work of art and innovation which sometimes lead to an intellectual property right.

Our guests will come from various fields of creation and innovation, and each episode will be hosted by a contributor from aera in an inspiring and hopefully thought-provoking conversation.

The “heart” thread in it all: Brand designing, intention in creativity, and ikigai.

In this episode, Wakana Pivoteau Sakihama, artist and founder of Wakanacolors, speaks with OPEN ears host Hanane F. Roswall about brand design and creating an emotional connection with a brand. They discuss how culture, values, and trust are vital components of a brand and how innovation can be driven by empathy and a desire to help people, thereby creating a strong brand.

Wakana also draws a thread (a so-called “heart” thread) from brand design to artistic body of work by connecting to nature and Japan to deeply get in touch with the essence of oneself. Wakana elaborates on how the Japanese concept of finding purpose, IKIGAI, plays a vital role in her journey, as well as in expressing her art and transmitting emotions that she feels and that can resonate with others.
