Alyson joined the patent profession after completing a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, having previously earned a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the Colorado School of Mines. Before beginning her Master’s, she also spent a year as a patent engineer in the United States, handling patents in 5G communications, semiconductors, and software development.
Her Master’s thesis used a large language model pipeline to test the taxonomy of the Digital Services Act Transparency Database against the terms and conditions of large online platforms. Aly’s background has consistently focused on the intersection of law and computer science, enabling her to understand complex software and hardware innovations and translate them into robust IP strategies.
