About

Maria is a diligent IP professional with a long-term goal to bring clarity to complex challenges and to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and strategy.

Her interest in intellectual property was sparked when a friend’s invention was stolen, leading her to transition into the field after completing a PhD in Medical Cell Biology and an M.Sc. in Medical Science from Uppsala University, followed by a postdoctoral tenure at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Protein Research in Copenhagen, where she studied post-translational modifications in human health and disease.

Maria has refined her IP skills with over a decade of experience at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO), where she conducted patentability assessments across a broad range of technical fields, including Life Sciences, Medical Formulations, and Medical Devices. Furthermore, Maria has extensive experience in Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) and Landscape analyses, enabling clients to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

At aera, Maria continues her ambition to help innovators and clients safeguard their intellectual property and their cross-border IP strategy. In addition to her technical and IP knowledge, Maria is known for her meticulous approach, pragmatic mindset, and collaborative spirit—bringing energy and professionalism to every engagement.
