Shweta holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Manipal University (India) and The University of Copenhagen (Denmark) respectively, which gives her a strong grasp in understanding the challenges involved in the areas of drug discovery and development. For her master thesis, she moved into the field of molecular and structural biology, wherein she investigated the structure of a protein complex (recombinant human MCT1-BSG complex) implicated in cancer progression. Subsequently, she did her Ph.D. at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, University of Copenhagen, where she worked towards analyzing a unique bacteriophage using cryo electron microscopy and other molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR-Cas. She will be defending her PhD thesis in the near future.
Through her educational and extra-curricular experiences, Shweta also has a keen interest in inventions within biotechnological and pharmaceutical research, and their commercial applications.
