Germany moves on with the UPC

Despite last week’s decision, where the German Federal Constitutional Court concluded that the Act of Approval for the UPC Agreement was void, the German government has announced that it will vote again about the UPC before the end of the current legislative period, which means before October 2021.

The annulment of the first vote was decided due to the lack of the required two-third majority.

Germany’s minister of justice and consumer protection, Christine Lambrecht said: “I will continue to work to ensure that we can provide the European innovative industry with a single European patent with a European patent court.”
