UK withdraws ratification of the Unified Patent Court Agreement

As a consequence of the Brexit earlier this year the UK has now withdrawn its ratification of the Agreement of the Unified Patent Court. That means that the UK will not be a part of the Unitary Patent System, which is expected to enter into force later this year or in 2021.

The Brexit has for a long time been a brake for the process, so even though the withdrawal is a set back for the UPS, it also means that the remaining 24 countries, who have ratified the agreement, now can move on.
