About

Michael entered the patent profession in 2016, where he worked at one of Europe’s largest IP-firms prior to joining aera in 2024. Clients appreciate his pragmatic approach centered around the client’s needs combined with creative problem-solving abilities to create the best solution for the client, such as e.g., combining strategic advice with drafting and prosecution of patent applications representing the key aspects of the client’s inventions.

Michael holds a M.Sc. in Medicinal Chemistry and Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Medicinal Chemistry, both from Aarhus University, where he was heavily involved in developing a sensor assay for fast small molecule detection in blood samples utilized in point-of-care diagnostics. This research gained him a lot of insight and expertise within the fields of organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular diagnostics, and nanoscience, especially from the interdisciplinary side. Michael has therefore worked with clients within the fields of life science, nanotechnology, chemistry, food technology, greentech/cleantech/renewable energies, medtech, and mechanics.

Within the patent profession, he has worked with drafting and prosecution of patent applications, maintaining and creating client relationships, training of new staff, and has been proactive within incubators and start-up programs where he is performing mentoring of start-up companies to guide them in the field of intellectual property.
